Beautifully flamed walnut in premium quality for back and sides adorns this MARTIN OO/12Fret from the Custom Shop. The top of this Double O is made of Sitka - also premium quality. The neck is made of ‘Genuine Mahogany’ - i.e. Honduras mahogany, the fingerboard of ebony. The short scale length makes it very handy and easy to play. With a nut width of 46 mm, it is also suitable for slightly larger hands. This Double O is visually enhanced with a slotted headstock. Especially with small body sizes with a short scale length, the higher string pressure of the two E strings (due to the stronger angle) leads to a fuller sound.

The response is direct, combining the attributes of the small body shape with those of the selected woods. On the one hand, the premium walnut for the back and sides reminds me of very good mahogany, but there is also a dash of faster response. The scalloped bracing strikes an excellent balance between stability and lightness of tone.
