During our recent visit to the Martin distributor for Germany, we took the opportunity to choose this beautiful dreadnought from the available D-28 Authentic Aged guitars - that alone made the trip to Holland worthwhile - a dread that exactly fulfils the expectations of a dread from the pre-war era, punch, definition, balance across all registers, great playability (with 13 gauge strings!!) and a stunning appearance. The VTS tops (and also the bracing) have a significant influence on the tone, as does the use of hot glue, but more on this in Martin's description:

Martin luthiers are able to recreate the appealing visual aesthetics of a vintage guitar and reproduce the special tones once reserved for vintage instruments. Now Martin has reintroduced a more precise body profile based on the dreadnought shapes from the early Golden Era of Martin history. The result is a tactile, visual and auditory experience that takes you back to the 1930s.
